The 30-second answer

Bioderma has four main lines: Sebium for oily and acne-prone skin, Sensibio for sensitive and reddened skin, Atoderm for very dry skin, and Photoderm for sunscreens. For oily skin Sebium Gel Moussant at EGP 699, for sensitive Sensibio Defensive at EGP 799, for dry Atoderm Intensive Baume at EGP 899, and for sun Photoderm AKN Mat SPF 30 at EGP 799 or Aquafluid SPF50+ at EGP 849. The grouping comes from the product pages, and ingredient lists are not stated, so check the pack.

The four lines in brief

  • Sébium: for oily, combination and acne-prone skin: cleansers, micellar water, Global care and pore products.
  • Sensibio: for sensitive, reddened or irritated skin: micellar water and soothing moisturisers.
  • Atoderm: for dry, very dry, sensitive and itchy skin: cleansers, a balm and creams.
  • Photoderm: sunscreens, including for oily skin (AKN Mat), dry sensitive skin (cream), an invisible finish (Aquafluid) and redness-prone skin (AR).
  • Pigmentbio: a pigmentation line, including the C-Concentrate serum.

AAD rules before you choose

  • Oily skin: a gentle foaming wash up to twice a day and after sweating, “oil free” and “noncomedogenic” products, no scrubbing and no oil- or alcohol-based cleansers, and keep moisturising.
  • Dry skin: a cream or ointment instead of lotion, on damp skin after a shower and at least twice a day; look for ceramides and hyaluronic acid and avoid fragrance, alcohol and AHAs.
  • Sensitive skin: fragrance-free products; “all natural” does not mean hypoallergenic.
  • Sun: sunscreen outdoors; for acne-prone skin zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, without fragrance or oils.
  • If dryness is red, itchy or cracking: see a dermatologist.

Ask a dermatologist or pharmacist if

  • Severe or painful acne, or acne that leaves scars: daily care is not enough.
  • Constant redness, itching, a rash or red, cracking dryness (AAD guidance).
  • You have eczema, psoriasis or rosacea: add one new product at a time and patch test.
  • Stinging or burning appears after a product: stop it.
  • There is no proven comparison between Bioderma lines and others; choose by your skin type and what it tolerates.

FAQ

What is the difference between Sebium and Sensibio?

Sebium is for oily, combination and acne-prone skin, and Sensibio is for sensitive, reddened or irritated skin, per the product pages.

Which line suits dry skin?

Atoderm: cleansers, a balm and creams for dry, sensitive skin; and the AAD advises a cream or ointment on damp skin.

Which Photoderm sunscreen is for oily skin?

The page describes AKN Mat SPF 30 for oily and combination skin with a matte finish; it meets the minimum SPF 30 the AAD recommends.

Does micellar water replace a cleanser?

The page says it cleanses and removes makeup without rinsing; our sources include no comparison with a cleanser.

Are the products fragrance-free?

Ingredient lists are not on most pages, so check the pack, and the AAD advises fragrance-free products for sensitive skin.

When should I see a dermatologist?

For severe acne, constant redness, itching, or red, cracking dryness.

The bottom line

Choose the line by your skin type: Sebium for oily, Sensibio for sensitive, Atoderm for dry and Photoderm for sun. Follow the AAD rules (a gentle cleanser, a suitable moisturiser and SPF 30 or higher), check the ingredient list on the pack, and ask a dermatologist if the problem is severe.
