Best Whey Protein in Egypt by Price per Gram: 13 Compared (2026)
Best whey protein in Egypt by price per gram: Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud, Care Tech, Iso Legend, TVN and ON Gold Standard

Updated 25 October 2026 · Prices taken from Beseha product pages on that day · 11-minute read

The 30-second answer

The cheapest gram of protein in Egypt right now: Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Isolate 2.25 kg at EGP 1.75 per gram (EGP 3,550). For a 1 kg tub: Care Tech Isolate at EGP 1.83 per gram (EGP 1,510). The cheapest concentrate: TVN at EGP 2.26. Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard costs EGP 3.38 per gram. The maths: price ÷ (servings × grams of protein per serving).

How to work out the price per gram of protein

The tub price alone is misleading, because tubs differ in servings and in protein per serving. The right way is to divide the price by the actual protein in the tub:

  • Protein in the tub = servings × grams of protein per serving (from the label or product page).
  • Price per gram = tub price ÷ protein in the tub.
  • Example: Care Tech has 33 servings × 25 g = 825 g of protein. At EGP 1,510, that is EGP 1.83 per gram, or about EGP 46 per 25 g serving.
  • Watch the scoop size: 21 g of protein in a 40 g scoop is not the same as 27 g in a 30 g scoop.

Isolate or concentrate? An element-by-element comparison

The clearest comparison is Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud's two products, from the same brand and the same size (1 kg, 33 servings):

Element Isolate Concentrate
Protein per 30 g 27 g 24 g
Calories per serving Not stated for the 1 kg size 115
Tub price EGP 2,000 EGP 1,850
Price per gram of protein EGP 2.24 EGP 2.34
Lactose Pack says lactose-free Not stated
Carbohydrates Lower, per the TVN pages Slightly higher, per the TVN pages

So here the isolate is cheaper per gram even though the tub costs more. For the difference between whey types in detail, see our guide to whey protein types.

Products we could not calculate: Novogen Isolate, Novogen 100% Whey, Dymatize ISO100, Nitro-Tech, Nitro Tech Whey Gold, Whey Legend, UPI and Commandos. Their pages lack the serving count or the protein per serving, so we will not guess.

Which one suits you?

  • You want the cheapest protein and drink it daily: Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Isolate 2.25 kg, or Iso Legend.
  • Your budget is one 1 kg tub: Care Tech Isolate, or TVN Concentrate.
  • Lactose bothers you: choose an isolate labelled lactose-free, or the beef-based Clear protein, and ask a pharmacist if symptoms are severe.
  • You want a global brand: Gold Standard, but you pay almost double per gram.
  • First time trying: a small tub such as Vee Peptide, or a 30-serving tub.

Can protein powder replace food?

No. Harvard Health says most people get enough protein from ordinary food: eggs, poultry, fish, dairy, legumes and nuts. Harvard's Nutrition Source says adults need at least 0.8 g of protein per kilogram of body weight per day, and needs vary with age, exercise and health. Powder is a convenient top-up if you cannot reach your needs from food.

If you are comparing with casein, see whey protein vs casein.

Common mistakes

  • Comparing by tub price: the EGP 1,110 tub costs twice as much per gram as the EGP 3,550 tub.
  • Ignoring sugar and calories: Harvard Health says some powders have up to 23 g of added sugar per scoop, so read the label.
  • Taking more than the label says: stick to the serving on the tub.
  • Assuming every protein is whey: Clear protein, for example, is beef protein.

Important safety notes

  • Harvard Health says the FDA leaves it to manufacturers to evaluate the safety and labelling of supplements such as protein powder.
  • Whey comes from milk. NIDDK says “whey” on a label means the product contains lactose, so if you are lactose intolerant start small or choose a product labelled lactose-free.
  • If you are allergic to milk itself, avoid whey.
  • If you have kidney disease or another chronic condition, or you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask a doctor before any protein powder.
  • Clear protein contains creatine, and the TVN page says it is not for children under 14.

FAQ

How do I calculate the price per gram of whey protein?

Multiply the number of servings by the grams of protein per serving to get the total protein in the tub, then divide the tub price by that number.

What is the cheapest whey protein in Egypt per gram?

In this comparison the lowest price per gram was Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Whey Protein Isolate 2.25 kg, followed by Care Tech Isolate 1 kg. Current prices are on each product page.

Is isolate always more expensive than concentrate?

No. For Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud's 1 kg products, the isolate was cheaper per gram because it has more protein per serving, even though the tub costs more.

Is whey protein suitable if I am lactose intolerant?

Whey comes from milk, and “whey” on a label means the product contains lactose, according to the US National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. Start small or choose a product labelled lactose-free, and ask a pharmacist.

How much protein do I need a day?

Adults need at least 0.8 g of protein per kilogram of body weight per day, according to Harvard, and needs vary with age, activity and health.

Can protein powder replace food?

No. Most people get enough protein from ordinary food, according to Harvard Health; powder is only a top-up.

Is Clear protein a type of whey?

No. The Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Clear Protein pack says hydrolysed beef protein isolate, dairy-free and lactose-free, and it also contains creatine.

The bottom line

Compare by price per gram of protein, not by tub price. The cheapest right now are Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Isolate 2.25 kg and Care Tech Isolate. Concentrate is not always cheaper, and global brands cost you almost double per gram. Ordinary food should stay the base.
