No single multivitamin is best for every man, and if you eat well, Harvard says the benefit is often small. If you want one: Dozova Man Max at EGP 234 is the best value, Mega Multi Sport at EGP 500 if you want herbs and no iron, and Alive! 50+ at EGP 1,300 if you are over fifty. Totavit at EGP 87 is the cheapest, but it has 18 mg of iron.
Do you need a multivitamin at all?
- Food first: Harvard says a multivitamin cannot replace a healthy, balanced diet, and for people who eat well it may have little or no benefit.
- Who may benefit: the same source lists older adults (who absorb vitamin B12 from food less well), people with absorption problems, and people on medicines that deplete nutrients.
- Iron: men aged 19 and over need 8.7 mg a day per the NHS, and 17 mg or less a day from supplements is unlikely to cause harm. For anaemia, see iron supplements in Egypt.
- No mega-doses: Harvard advises a multi with daily-value amounts, not many times more.

How to take it
- With or after food: as each product page says.
- One multi only: Totavit’s page says not to combine it with another multivitamin, which makes sense for any brand so doses do not stack.
- Read the label: especially for iron if you do not need it, and herbs if you take medicines.
- Not a substitute for a check-up: if you are always tired, a multi will not find the cause.
Ask a doctor or pharmacist first if
- You take blood thinners: ginkgo may raise bleeding risk per NCCIH, and the NOW ADAM and Alive! 50+ pages warn about this.
- You have diabetes and take medicine for it: ginseng may lower blood sugar.
- You have an autoimmune condition: the same source says ginseng may worsen it.
- You plan a multi with iron and no blood test has shown you are low.
